Permafrost Wiki Privacy Policy: What We Collect
Permafrost Wiki privacy policy: no accounts and no forms, Cloudflare hosting with no site access logs, optional Google Analytics that loads only with your consent, plus future advertising.
Summary: Permafrost Wiki does not ask you for personal information. There are no accounts, no comment system and no contact forms. The site is served through Cloudflare and keeps no access logs of its own. Traffic measurement is optional: Google Analytics loads only after you accept it, and declining costs you nothing.

Who runs this site
Permafrost Wiki is an independent, fan-made guide to the survival game Permafrost. It is operated by yestar, an individual publisher, and it is not an official service of SpaceRocket Games or Toplitz Productions.
For any privacy question, request or complaint, write to yestar2023@gmail.com. That is the only contact channel for this site.
This policy covers Permafrost Wiki and nothing else. It does not describe how the game, Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation, Xbox, Discord or YouTube handle your data. Each of those services has its own privacy policy, and theirs applies when you use them.
What this site does not collect
You can read every page on this site without creating an account, logging in or handing over any personal detail. There is no newsletter signup, no comment section, no contact form and no user-submitted content of any kind.
Because there is no way to submit information, we do not knowingly hold names, postal addresses, phone numbers or payment details belonging to readers. We do not sell, rent or trade any personal information, and we do not operate a mailing list.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We keep that correspondence only as long as it takes to answer you, then delete it.
Hosting and logs
The site is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare, which provides the content delivery network and protective filtering in front of it. Cloudflare processes technical request data, such as IP addresses and browser headers, in order to serve pages and to filter abusive traffic.
Permafrost Wiki does not keep its own server access logs. We do not store records of which pages you visited, and we do not build reader profiles.
Cloudflare's handling of request data is governed by its own privacy policy, not by this page. If you want to know exactly what Cloudflare does with a request, read Cloudflare's privacy documentation.
Analytics
Traffic measurement on this site is optional and uses Google Analytics. It does not run unless you accept it. Until you make a choice, and equally if you decline, no Google Analytics script is loaded, no analytics cookie is set and no measurement data is sent to Google.
If you accept, Google Analytics tells the operator which pages are read and roughly how visitors arrive, using aggregated reports rather than anything that identifies you personally to us. It works by placing cookies and collecting data such as your approximate location, device type, browser, referring page and behaviour on the site. That data is processed by Google, and Google's own privacy policy governs what Google does with it.
You are asked once, in a banner at the bottom of the page, and the answer is remembered on your own device. You can change it whenever you like through the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page — withdrawing consent is exactly as easy as giving it.
Google also publishes an opt-out browser add-on that disables Google Analytics across the sites you visit, and blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings works too. Refusing analytics does not block you from reading anything here.
Cookies and local storage
No analytics cookies are set before you consent. Your answer to the analytics question is stored on your device, kept in your browser's local storage under the key pf-analytics-consent with the value granted or denied. It contains no identifier, it is never sent to our servers, and it exists only so that the banner does not reappear on every page.
That record is what gates the measurement: while it is absent or set to denied, no analytics script runs. Clearing your browser's site data removes it, and the banner will ask again on your next visit.
After you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets first-party measurement cookies, such as _ga and _ga_<ID>, on this site's domain. You can withdraw consent through Cookie settings and delete existing cookies through your browser settings. If advertising is introduced later, advertising providers may use additional cookies; this policy will be updated before that happens.
Advertising
Permafrost Wiki does not display advertising at present. The operator may introduce advertising in the future to cover hosting costs.
If ads are added, they will most likely be served by a third-party network, which may use cookies or similar technology to select and measure ads. Those vendors would then be independent data controllers, and their own policies would apply to what they collect.
This page will be updated before any advertising goes live, so that it describes what is actually running. The effective date at the top will change when it does.
Children
This site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and there is no mechanism on the site for a child to submit any.
If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights and choices
You can browse this site with analytics blocked and still read all of it — that is the default state. Use the Cookie settings link in the footer to accept or withdraw analytics consent at any time; blocking cookies, using the Google opt-out add-on, or browsing in private mode are further ways to limit what is measured.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you may have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR, including access, correction, erasure and objection. If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA. To exercise any of them, email yestar2023@gmail.com.
Because the site holds essentially no personal data, most requests are answered by confirming that we hold nothing about you. Where a request concerns analytics data held by Google, we will point you to Google's own tools, since that data sits with Google rather than with us.
Data retention and transfers
We do not store reader data, so there is no retention period to state for it. Email correspondence is kept only until the matter is resolved.
The operator is based in the United States, and both Cloudflare and Google are global providers, so technical data may be processed in the United States or in other countries. By using the site you understand that this processing may take place outside your own country.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the site changes, for example if advertising is introduced or a new analytics tool is adopted. The effective date at the top of the page will always reflect the version in force.
Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy. Material changes will be reflected in the text of this page rather than announced elsewhere.
Contact
Questions, corrections and privacy requests all go to the same place: yestar2023@gmail.com. We aim to answer within a reasonable period, and we will tell you plainly if a request falls outside what the site can do.
